Tentative Dates and Locations

Following are the Tentative dates and locations of the Northern Regional tournament for the 2007-2008 season. The reason the word tenative is highlighted is because until the dates are listed on the official website of INDI www.wesc.k12.in.us/di they have to be called tenative.

We are happy to announce a new site for the Northern Regional tournament this year! Our region needs to grow in order to stay viable. We are going to make a push this year to move into the South Bend/Mishawaka metro area, so the Northern Regional tournament will be hosted by Discovery Middle School in Mishawaka on March 15, 2008. Appraiser training will also be held at Discovery Middle School on February 16, 2008.

Triton Elementary has been a gracious host to the tournament for the last few years, but the size of the building was limiting our growth. We needed to find a site that could easily accomodate the technical challenges and the large performance sites they require. We also needed to find a site that was accessible to the majority of the schools in the region without too much hardship. We have memberships in Valparaiso, Fort Wayne, Mishawaka and Peru.

At this point in the calendar year, I am gathering a team of people to serve the region and the kids to act as a Regional Tournament Committte. If you are willing to serve, please contact me.
I have several people already assigned to serve as Regional Challenge Masters. If you know of someone that would be interested in serving in this capacity have them email me.

I know that the change in venue for the tournament will be harder on some than others, but I truly believe that it is good for the program.

Additionally, the TEAM MANAGER's training will be in the Marshall County area on
November 10, 2007. If you have any suggestions for topics to cover at the training, I am open to ideas. We want the training to be useful AND enjoyable for you.

Trying a New Form of Communication!

Hello, team managers, team members, and supporters! I have decided to try a blog this year as another way to get information out to all of you. We will see how it works and whether you need it or even want it.

First of all, I want to emphasize that ONLY the IN-DI and the IDODI websites can help you with purchasing memberships and are the last word when it comes to specific questions about your memberships and registering for a tournament. Please refer to www.wesc.k12.in.us/di for ALL Indiana affilate matters and www.idodi.org for questions and information that need to be answered by the Destination ImagiNation Intergalactic headquarters! If you ask a question or post a comment that needs to be answered by someone other than me, I will help you find someone that can help you.

I will do my best to post helpful information that will allow you to be your best and make the year a fun one for all of the teams that can say, "I DO DI!"
